Oxidation of Chloride and Hypochlorite at Pt and RuO2 Anodes

  • Chapter
Modern Chlor-Alkali Technology

Abstract

The on-site generation of hypochlorite becomes more and more attractive. Small-scale applications are of interest for the disinfection of private swimming pools. Larger hypochlorite electrolysers are used to prevent fouling in cooling units of electricity power stations or to purify drinking water or sewage in municipal plants.
