Abstract

Dynamic-mechanical properties (elastic modulus and internal damping) of materials may be characterized using either vibration or wave-propagation experiments. This section deals only with vibration-test methods, which cover the nominal frequency range 0.001–1000 Hz. Wave-propagation methods are not discussed here.

This section was written while the author was on sabbatical leave at the Composite Materials and Structures Center, Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan.
