Abstract

For a multi-bolt joint the main factor influencing its behavior is the distribution of bolt loadings. These joints are divided into two types: regular arrangements and irregular ones. In this paper the method presented can be used to compute bolt loadings, which include their magnitudes and directions, for arbitrary arrangement in joints. The radial forces on the contact boundary can be solved by the displacement coordination equation. Their resultant force is bolt loading. A simplified method can be utilized to compute a regular arrangement joint. It may take less computer running time. The computation results are quite coincident with the test results. It is shown that this method is very efficient.
