Abstract
A new purification procedure for purification of Pop Corn Inhibitor, the trypsin and activated factor XII inhibitor present in corn, is presented. It is shown that Polenta is a more convenient starting material than the more commonly used sweet corn kernels. Complete purification of the inhibitor is obtained through use of one chromatography step on Procion red HE-3B immobilized on agarose followed by a reverse phase chromatography step. Advantages of this procedure compared to those using immobilized trypsin or immobilized anhydro trypsin are discussed.
