Abstract

Aromatic hydrocarbons (AHC) and chlorinated hydrocarbons (CHC) injected into the atmosphere from polluted to remote areas have concentration gradients according to their reaction rates with OH-radicals. Components which have residence times of several days or weeks are enriched and act as photochemical precursors in remote forest areas. For CHC a slight decrease of the airborne concentrations was found within the last years.
