Abstract

In this paper we consider the capacity of machines to exhibit humanlike behaviors. In “Logic, Computers, and Men” Burks (1973) takes as his thesis that for each human there is a deterministic finite-state automaton behavior ally equivalent to that human. That is, he argues that machines can exhibit all natural human functions.
