Cosmic Strings and Galaxy Formation: Overview and Recent Results

Abstract

The cosmic string model of galaxy formation is briefly summarized and compared with other theories. Some recent results are presented: the origin of galactic angular momentum via tidal torquing is discussed, and the evolution of the mass function is studied.
