Quinoproteins in C1-Dissimilation by Bacteria

  • Chapter
PQQ and Quinoproteins

Abstract

This review will first briefly summarise the role of quinoproteins in the physiology of methylotrophic bacteria growing on methane, methanol and methylamine; the oxidation of methylamine will then be considered in detail with special emphasis on its mechanism and the nature of its electron acceptor; finally the nature of methanol dehydrogenase and its interaction with its specific electron acceptor will be considered.
