Abstract
The superstructures in NbGa3-x have been studied by electron diffraction and high resolution electron microscopy. Four long period superstructures, which correspond with Nb5Ga13, Nb6Ga16, Nb7Ga19 and Nb8Ga22 have been found. The superstructures are closely related to the alloy compositions. The long period superstructure of Nb5Ga13 comprises two types of antiphase boundaries alternately arranged, and has an unusually long c-axis (8.02nm). Other superstructures of Nb6Ga16/ Nb7Ga19 and Nb8Ga22 involve one-type antiphase boundary, of which domain sizes only depend upon the compositions.
