Glass-ceramics in substrate applications

  • Chapter
Glasses and Glass-Ceramics

Abstract

Glass-ceramics are now becoming well established as engineering materials, enabling the ranges covered by ‘conventional’ glasses and sintered ceramics to be extended and diversified considerably. Investigation into their use in a wide range of technical and engineering applications is proceeding throughout the world and indeed, in certain areas, for example microwave radomes, vacuum envelopes, laser envelopes, telescope mirrors and domestic cooker tops and cooking ware, their use is now well established.
