Cation and Anion Exchange Properties of Pillared Clays

  • Chapter
Recent Developments in Ion Exchange

Abstract

Cation and anion pH dependent exchange processes on an Aluminium Pillared Clay (Al-PILC) and Zirconium Pillared Clay (Zr-PILC) were studied by titrating the PILCS with four different solutions; 0.1N(NaCl+NaOH/HCl), 0.1N(KC1+K0H/HC1), O.lNCCsCl+CsOH/HCl), and 0.1N(RbCl+RbOH/HCl). Results indicate that the ion exchange capacity of the original clay was increased due to the pillaring process.
