Simultaneous Elimination of Heavy Metals and Chelating Agents from Waste Waters

Abstract

The simultaneous elimination of heavy metals and chelating agents by means of strong-base anion exchange resins has been investigated. The resins are applied in the bicarbonate form and regenerated by means of magnesium bicarbonate, which is produced from magnesium oxide, water, and cabon dioxide under pressure. Laboratory scale experiments demonstrated the feasibility of the proposed process. Macroporous exchange resins showed the best performance.
