Abstract
The effect of laser-induced high intensity stress waves on the hardness, residual stresses, and fatigue resistance at the heat affected zone of welded 18 Ni (250) maraging steel was investigated. Laser shock processing increased the hardness, induced compressive residual stresses, and increased fatigue strength of weldments.
