Preparation and Characterization of Ceramic Powders

  • Chapter
Advanced Ceramics III

Abstract

Ceramic manufacturing based on powders, shape compaction and subsequent densification is a process combining a number of different independent steps. However, there is an extended number of examples showing that the properties of the starting powder have a strong impact on the final products9 properties. Despite the high number of processing steps the starting material used is still important; the result of using a poor starting material cannot be rectified during further preparation.
