Abstract

The equilibrium three-phase junction of a liquid in contact with a solid in the presence of a fluid (vapour or second liquid immiscible with the first) is usually described by Young’s equation [1]:

$${{\gamma }_{{S V}}} = {{\gamma }_{{S L}}} + \gamma cos {{\theta }_{{\rm O}}}$$
