Abstract

Hydrothermal reaction sintering of chromium and iron metal powders were described. Fine metal powders were reacted with high temperature and high temperature solution to form oxides under certain hydrothermal conditions.

Reactions were

$$ 2Cr + 3{H_2}O \to C{r_2}{O_3} + 3{H_2} $$
$$ 3Fe + 4{H_2}O \to F{e_3}{O_4} + 4{H_2} $$

Well sintered Cr2O3 body was obtained at 1000°C for 15h. under high pressure.
