Abstract
Applications developers and end-users alike today clamor for similar features in application architectures: interoperability, portability, maintainability, reusability, distribution, heterogeneity and consistency. Although there may be multiple approaches to achieving these goals, repeatedly many different projects have chosen object-oriented programming styles to solve these problems and alleviate the expense of large-scale software development and integration.
