Abstract

The Ruzizi Plain deposits show evidence of alternating savannah and semi-arid climates deduced from geomorphology (calcretes — ferricretes — stone-line), sedimentology (meandering river — braided river -sheetflood deposits), and pedology (Gley — Pseudogley — Alfisol — Calcrete palaeosoils).
