Abstract
A curious thing about the problem of counterpossibles is that for all its complexity it too can be put in Anglo-Saxon monosyllables: What is meant by ’if p then q’; when ’p’; could not be the case? Unfortunately, and despite some valiant attempts, the answer cannot be given in a word, and so the problem remains.
