Abstract

Treatment with Ruthenium-106-radioactive plaques has proven to be an effective method achieving local tumor control of choroidal melanomas. (Lommatzsch and Vollmar, 1966; Lommatzschn, 1983; Fôrster et al., 1983; Fôrster et al., 1984) Success rates are dependent on a proper localization of the plaque as well as the exact measurements of tumor dimensions to calculate the irradiation dose required. Both parameters are highly dependent on ultrasonographical examinations. (Guthoff et al, 1983).
