Summary

In this study we want to show the possibility of echographically to drive the surgeon in the extraction of intraocular foreign bodies. For this reason we used 40 bovine eyes in which we introduced a foreign body via pars plana and then pulled out only with ultrasound guide.

We found that difficulties increase the more the foreign bodies were closer to retina. For foreign bodies localized in middle vitreous such technique has been reliable enough.
