Continuous biometry of the crystalline lens during accommodation

Part of the book series: Documenta Ophthalmologica Proceedings Series ((DOPS,volume 53))

Summary

Apparatus consisting of a DIAS Biometer, a 100 MHz oscilloscope, a BBC SE 460 chart recorder and a Kretz 10 MHz plane wave transducer was used to plot rapid changes in AC depth, lens thickness and vitreous length over a period of time. Responses were recorded for several random accommodative stimuli presented to emmetropic and myopic eyes which were matched for age and sex. The speed and nature of dimensional change for positive and negative accommodation was measured. Comparisons between the refractive groups were made. This ultrasound method for examining dynamic aspects of accommodation is compared to work previously carried out ultrasonically and optically.
