Abstract

The main objective in this chapter is to illustrate the capabilities of the discretized approach as applied to plane stress problems. We discuss in turn small elastic-plastic deformation associated with bending of a cantilever without and with a weakening hole, the limit load analysis of a perforated plate, the behaviour of an elastic-plastic cantilever under non-proportionally varying loads and large extensional deformations in a rectangular plate with a central hole.
