Abstract

An overview of how UV lasers have been used to treat polymers is presented. Two main approaches have been followed. By far the most popular has been ablation. Other problems which have been addressed are related to polymerization due to the formation of free radicals by irradiation and to the chemical modification of polymers in selected areas.
