Abstract
An overview of the application of ion beam treatments to polymers is presented. Low energy ion irradiation has been used to improve the efficiency of dry etching processes and adhesion. High energy irradiation (> 10 keV) results in drastic changes in chemistry and structure of treated polymers. Changes in solubility, conductivity and refractive index have been observed.
