Abstract

Within the international community of persons interested in biomedical ethics, a striking variety of issues related to in vitro fertilization are being debated. Even with regard to what is often called the “simple case,” that is, fertilization of a woman’s ova by her husband’s sperm for transfer back to her uterus, the questions are myriad.
