Vibrational Energy Exchanges between Diatomic Molecules of Relevance to Atmospheric Chemistry

  • Chapter
Molecular Physics and Hypersonic Flows

Part of the book series: NATO ASI Series ((ASIC,volume 482))

Abstract

This work concerns itself with the vibration to translation and vibration to vibration energy exchanges in collisions between atmospheric molecules. The relation between results obtained within simple analytical theories, frequently used in vibrational kinetic modelling, and results obtained from more exact three-dimensional numerical calculations is presented and discussed.
