Abstract
In healthy animals food intake is matched to energy expenditure by coordinated activity of “feeding” and “satiety” center in the hypothalamus. When energy intake exceeds the needs for physiologic funtions at rest (resting metabolic rate) and physical activity, the energy excess is stored as triacylglycerols in adipose tissue.
