What Dietary Changes are Necessary to Reduce Coronary Heart Disease?

  • Chapter

Abstract

The Government White Paper ‘The Health of the Nation’ (Department of Health, 1992) set targets for the reduction of deaths from CHD in England and Wales and the strategies by which it is hoped to achieve them. The targets proposed are the reduction of premature deaths (under 65 years) by at least 40% and the reduction of deaths in the age-range 65–74 years by at least 30% in the year 2000 from baseline figures in 1990.
