Abstract

At present, the large majority of road vehicles are powered by fossil fuels derived from oil, even if a growing number of electric vehicles and of vehicles powered by alternative fuels can be seen on the road. Since these alternative energy sources and vehicle schemes are more a perspective for the future than a reality of today, a thorough discussion on these topics will be reported in Part III.
