Abstract
Waveguides and antennas are basic components to send and receive electromagnetic waves in radars and wireless communications. Among many different types of waveguides and antennas, we will study rectangular waveguides, Hertzian dipole antennas, and loop antennas. These types are relatively simple to derive their analytic field solutions. In the following sections, we will derive these solutions and discuss salient features of electromagnetic wave guidance and radiation. Helmholtz’s equations and Maxwell’s equations will be utilized for wave analysis.
