Abstract

The basic principle of sequential statistical testing is that after every additional test person has been evaluated, a formal statistical rule is applied to the whole data to determine whether the study should stop. This methodology has obtained its proper place in econo- and sociometric research as a cost-efficient and scientifically sound methodology for efficacy/safety testing of industrial products, but is underused in clinical research.
