Sown and Natural Grassland for Soil Protection and Productivity in the Forest Steppe of Ukraine

Abstract

A 3- and 4-year study of sown and natural grassland in the foothills of the Carpathians demonstrates the enhancement of productivity by legumes. Over-sowing with bird’s-foot trefoil more than doubled dry matter yield and improved the botanical composition.
