Abstract
In this chapter, the basic mechanisms, opto-electrical characteristics, variety designs, and development process of the high voltage light emitting diode (HVLED) and alternating current light emitting diode (ACLED) were extensively discussed. Some important issues, such as the efficiency drooping, flickering illumination, harmonic distortion limitation, and lifetime result of the HV/ACLED were also studied. Furthermore, packaging methods, safety considerations, and measurement techniques of the HV/ACLED were mentioned to assist readers in applying the HV/ACLED safely and properly.
