Abstract
This chapter constitutes a review of methods employed within probability analysis and presents principles of probability theory as well as statistics concepts for risk and reliability analysis of hydrosystem engineering. Next in this chapter, the concept and application of discrete and continues random variables are briefly offered. Furthermore, commonly used probability distributions are presented with a number of straightforward examples to better understand the implementation of random variables and probability distributions in water resources engineering.
