Performance Analysis of Zone Based Routing by Varying Radius of Zone Using Ant Colony in MANET

Abstract

Mobile Ad hoc network (MANET) is a collection of wireless mobile nodes forming a dynamic network topology without the use of any pre-existing network infrastructure. The biggest challenge in MANET is to find a path between communicating nodes. In this paper, we have investigated the performance of the zone based routing (ZRP) protocol by varying the radius of the zone. We have simulated the network with 35 nodes and found that ZRP with radius of 2 hops has proved to be better than ZRP with radius of 1 and 4 hops. In ZRP, we have to choose the radius appropriately, so that the protocol can work in a better way. The performance is analyzed using packet loss rate, congestion and hops traveled.
