Abstract
In combination with the fundamental Lennard-Jones potential, basic equations for physisorption of rigid microparticles physisorbed on a solid bearing applied strains are derived. The results are then used to analyze long-range elastic interaction between two adsorbates mediated by the substrate. It is found that the interaction energy depends not only on the inter-adsorbate distance, but also on the adorbate size and the applied strains.
