Abstract
Chapter 3 provides the methodological framework for my study. I conducted in-depth interviews with 29 individuals from 18 families supplemented by participant observation. Using qualitative research methods, I intend to describe the dynamics and the means by which couples come to construct and reconstruct relations. This chapter highlights the benefits of qualitative research which helps in understanding the lives and the respective worlds from the subjects’ points of view. A grounded theory approach is used in this research and respondents are chosen based on theoretical sampling. The processes of interviewing and analyzing data are very reflexive. Some methodological issues are also underscored in this chapter.
