Abstract
This chapter is an extension of Chap. 3 in which a dynamic system that integrates process planning with production management was presented. The philosophy of this system is that routing is a variable. A production planner, based on knowledge of customer orders and plant load, decides—at the moment a decision is needed—which order filling route to use. A product tree of each order is used throughout the planning and execution stages. This chapter demonstrates how the method is used in production planning and scheduling.
