Abstract

Chapter 10 focuses on the function community-mindedness holds in relation to the self-regulation of drug cultures in general. Typically the respective findings presented in each chapter are discussed in relation to the results of the present study concerned with the heroin scene on the Shetland Islands. Throughout Part III, the existence, function and strength of community-mindedness receive specific attention. The chapter examines the level and role of community-mindedness in the self-regulation of drug cultures in the scientific literature, illustrated by the examples of heroin scenes in different countries.
