The development of solar radio astronomy on the first radio telescopes constructed at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory (CrAO) is described. The history of the CrAO 22-m radio telescope is presented, together with the results of important studies carried out on this telescope, primarily at millimetre wavelengths.
