Abstract

The qualification of large testing facilities serving in earthquake engineering research and the management of the instrumentation are the central issues of this paper. The main aspects of instrumentation management and seismic test methods are presented, commented upon and critically assessed based on both the answers to a questionnaire and the outcomes of the SERIES Workshop about the Qualification of Facilities held in Ohrid, MK. On the basis of the results presented herein and the proposals and comments formulated at the Ohrid workshop, a roadmap for the qualification of earthquake research laboratories will be drawn up.
