Abstract

A brief overview of the genesis and evolution of TMM and other MMS related research fields in Armenia is given and the main achievements are underlined. Based on this overview, present trends and critical problems in the development of MMS are identified in the context of social-economic transition. The role and influence of IFToMM on the development of MMS are highlighted. The paper concludes with an outline of possible ways for promoting the further development of MMS and its active involvement in revitalization and restructuring of industrial machinery in Armenia.
