Abstract

The neutrinoless double beta decay is a very rare process, and the experimental search demands a large amount of mass operating in low background conditions. Current limits on the half-life of this process range between \(10^{21}\) and \(10^{25}\) years, depending on the source isotope. The most promising detectors are probably bolometers, and next generation experiments will improve the sensitivity to the half-life by two orders of magnitude with respect to the present limits. CUORE [1, 2] will be a ton scale experiment that will probe neutrinoless double beta decay in \(^{130}\)Te using \(\hbox{TeO}_2\) bolometers.
