Abstract
It is always fascinating to know the origins of any subject. The subject of Theory of Machines began during the era of JamesWatt with the Industrial Revolution.We will look at what happened prior to this.
This chapter is based on the paper “History of Rotating Machines”, IFToMM Workshop on the History of Machines and Mechanisms, HMM 2007, Bangalore, December 14, 2007.
