Examples of Specific Ways of Thinking

This chapter will summarize some specific examples of how the brain performs a wide range of certain specific tasks. Scientists don’t know everything there is to know about how these tasks are performed, but enough is known to contribute to an understanding of some general principles of how the brain thinks. More to the point, these examples will reveal certain common denominators that will guide our thinking in the discussion on Theories of Consciousness in Chap. 8.
