Abstract
The attentive reader is well aware of the fact that the single-fluid equations for mass, momentum and internal energy that we obtained in the previous Chapter do not form a closed set. The aim of this Chapter is to obtain closure. Let us recall that expressions for the anisotropic part of the stress tensor and for the flux of heat due to random motions are necessary but not sufficient for obtaining this goal. Inspection of the single-fluid equations for a very simple case (3.42) revealed that there are more unknowns than equations.
