Abstract
A catalytic pyrolysis of ethylene at 500–700°C in the presence of vapors of H2O, C2H5OH, (CH3)2SO4, (CH3O)3P and (CH3O)3B is carried out. On the basis of the obtained results a number of conclusions about the processes in the gas phase is made and also the relationship between the conditions of catalytic pyrolysis of ethylene and structure of the resulting carbon nanofibers is revealed. It is found that the introduction of gaseous additives significantly affects on the formation, growth and structure of carbon nanofibers.
