Abstract

As noted in the Introduction, the four of chapters of Part I are comprehensive reviews of the extensive existing literature on the development of adaptive systems. Here we pursue primarily a methodological aim to represent this material in a concise but coherent form, in order to distinguish the most typical, frequently used, and sufficiently effective problems and methods. We pay particular attention to the original works that substantially influences the formation of nonlinear adaptive mechanics. This remark is essential, since in reality some methods that are effective for linear systems are not admissible for the solution of many problems of nonlinear adaptive synthesis.
