Abstract
The relationship between school and society in the Philippines has been a feature of the countrys development beginning in the 19th-century. Since 1897, there have been seven constitutions containing educational provisions. Constitutions prescribe the core of the curriculum and define the educational system. The 1935, 1973, and 1987 constitutions expressed the need and desire of the society to develop good and responsible citizenship among Filipino people. All commonly advocate that schools should aim to develop civic conscience and teach the duties of citizenship, love of country, patriotism, and nationalism. Educational institutions develop hand in hand with society. Consequently, at any given period in history, educational contents, processes, and activities respond to the demands of the Philippine society. The curriculum reflects the goals of education as needed by social contexts and conditions. Pedagogy, being the art of teaching, follows the goals and aims of the curriculum.
